Evidence

Items taken as evidence are held until a final disposition is reached (Notice from prosecution, statute of limitations has expired, etc). After the proper approval to release evidence is received, notice will be sent to the identified/known owner advising the evidence is available to be released.

Claiming & Releasing Property

  • If you wish to claim property, please contact Florence Police Department’s (FPD) Property and Evidence Unit.
    • Appointments can be made Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
    • You will be required to present photo identification before any property can be released.  
  • If you wish to designate someone else to pick up property, please either:
  1.   Send a letter to FPD Property and Evidence Unit to authorize the release of your property.
  2. The designated person can bring a notarized document from you giving them permission to pick up your property (see letter specifications above).

    Special conditions and considerations:

    • Weapons and firearms -
      • A criminal history or C.B.I. Firearms Background Check will be necessary to obtain your property.
      • Please contact FPD Property and Evidence Unit to start this process.

     

    Unclaimed Property Notice

    Notice is hereby given that the property listed below is being held by the Florence Police Department. If you believe that any of this property belongs to you, please refer to the claiming and releasing property section above.

    Items will be posted for ninety (90) days or until they are claimed. All abandoned/unclaimed property shall be disposed of in accordance with department policies.
