Pool Cashier

Position: Pool Cashier

Pay Range: $15.16 -$15.20

General:

Under the general supervision of the Pool Manager and Assistant Pool Manager, performs cashiering and customer service duties for the Municipal Pool. Responsible for processing admissions, handling payments, providing information to patrons, and assisting with general operations to support a safe, organized, and welcoming environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greets patrons and provides courteous, professional customer service at all times
  • Collects admission fees, processes transactions, issues passes as required
  • Maintains accurate cash handling procedures, including opening and closing cash drawers and balancing transactions
  • Provides information regarding pool hours, rules, programs, and special events
  • Assists with monitoring entry areas to ensure patrons comply with facility rules and policies
  • Maintains orderly lines and entry flow during busy periods
  • Answers telephone inquiries and directs questions to appropriate staff when necessary
  • Assists with light cleaning of front desk area, office space, and surrounding facilities as assigned
  • Assists the pool office, guard house, and concession stand as needed or assigned
  • Reports concerns, incidents, or unsafe conditions to supervisory staff promptly
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Pool Manager or City Clerk

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accurate handling of cash, credit transactions, and admissions records
  • Responsible for maintaining a positive public-facing presence representing the City
  • Responsible for conducting oneself in a mature manner and exhibiting a positive and cooperative attitude at all times
  • Responsible for cooperating with supervisor, other departments, and co-workers with the overall benefit to the City as the primary focus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic cash handling and customer service practices
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the public and coworkers
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in busy or stressful situations
  • Ability to follow established procedures and exercise good judgment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to understand and communicate pool rules and policies

Education and Experience

  • Previous cashier or customer service experience preferred but not required
  • Basic computer or point-of-sale system familiarity preferred
  • Must be at least 15 years of age

Physical Demands

Work primarily in an outdoor setting with sitting, standing, and walking required. Requires the ability to occasionally lift and move objects up to 20 lbs. Requires communication with others to exchange information. Exposure to outside conditions such as heat, rain, and wind. Working hours include weekends and holidays.
